“We know more than we think, but don’t think about what we know.” Insights are beautiful things, and they’re not always about discovering something new. Often, at least for the well-educated and amply-experienced among us, insights are about discovering things you already knew assembled in different ways. Fitting the pieces of this jigsaw puzzle of stuff you know into something that’s supremely valuable in leading a business… that’s not just powerful, it’s practical. In the latest (April) module of our online Leadership Fitness Camp titled “The Expectations Trinity” we assembled 3 key principles of effective leadership of people and performance.
- Effectively setting and agreeing on expectations
- Contracting on how work is done
- Measuring progress and giving feedback
And of course each of these 3 principles contain 3 easy steps to applying it effectively. Practice any of these 3 principles… Expectations, Contracting, or Metrics effectively and you’ve improved your chances of a favourable outcome. Apply all 3 together and you’ve maximized your impact, and your people’s effectiveness, productivity and quality.
But we didn’t stop there. To supplement and anchor The Expectations Trinity we also shared the 4 behaviours of Aggressive Listening. We put it all together in 60 minutes for a powerful and immediately applicable learning. If you’d like to know a bit more about any of these, ask questions, challenge its simplicity, or explore what’s possible, drop me a line.
